Health PEI’s provincial flu vaccination program is receiving a very high volume of calls each day from Islanders wanting to make an appointment to get the flu shot.
Since last week, the flu vaccination program has been receiving an average of 750 phone calls per day. Additional phone lines have been added and additional staff have been recruited; however, some callers may receive a busy signal when they call.
Health PEI is asking Islanders to be patient and continue to call the flu vaccination program if they experience a busy signal. Getting the flu shot is important, and staff are working hard to answer as many calls as possible.
Call the toll-free flu vaccination program phone number – 1-855-354-4358(4FLU) – to make an appointment to get the annual influenza vaccine.
The flu vaccination is free this year for seniors age 65 and over, children aged 6 – 59 months, pregnant women and household contacts of pregnant women. A $7 administration fee will be charged to all others wishing to be vaccinated at the clinics.
Health PEI is also reminding Islanders that the flu vaccination is available by appointment only.
